"All right, I’ve got one. How about the lunar lander that was supposedly left on the moon?"
Bissell, Army of the Dead
Airman First Class Bissell was a member of the Four Horsemen, which was a military convoy tasked with escorting Zeus from Area 51. Bissell was portrayed by Zach Rose in Army of the Dead and served to set up the premise of both the movie and the franchise.
Biography[]
Las Vegas outbreak[]
A1C Bissell drove the lead Humvee in a four-truck convoy for the Four Horsemen. Their mission was to drive a package from Area 51 to an unspecified location in the direction of Las Vegas. Approaching the city, a newlywed car leaving the city veered into their lane, forcing Bissell to avoid it. The truck behind them, which carried the payload, was struck instead, killing the driver and dropping the cargo into the middle of the highway. Zeus escaped from the box and quickly dispatched all but Bissell and SrA Kelly, the convoy commander. The two men fled off the highway, but Zeus hunted them down. He tackled Bissell to the ground and ripped his jaw from his head. When Bissell arose shortly after, he had become an Alpha zombie.[2]
Life after death[]
Bissell was one of the first to join Zeus' horde, following him to Las Vegas. It's unknown what became of him.[2]
Abilities[]
- Zombie physiology: As an alpha zombie, Bissell's body grew resistant to physical trauma. His mind degraded to an animalistic level, but his muscles and coordination were enhanced.
- Exceptional physiology: As an alpha, Bissell's body was enhanced to that of an athlete's.
- Infection manipulation: As a zombie, Bissell's bite could convert others to zombies.
Trivia[]
- Bissell is listed as a corporal in the film's credits. This is an error as he is wearing a U.S. Air Force uniform and has the rank insignia of an airman first class. Corporal is a rank in the U.S. Army and is one pay grade higher than that of an airman first class.
- Bissell notably rises as a zombie without ever having been bitten. Zeus ripped Bissell's jaw out with his hand, did not bite him, and Bissell returned as a zombie all the same.
References[]
- ↑ U.S. Route 95 is one of two roads that lead from Area 51 to Las Vegas. We know the road of the collision must be one of these two roads, because the Four Horsemen left from Area 51, while the Hillmans left from Vegas, and the two groups met somewhere in the middle. The other road, U.S. Route 93, is on the northeast side of the city. Since Zeus can be seen standing over the Las Vegas skyline from the West, he would have had to travel all the way around Vegas to end up in that position if released on Route 93, while his path is indicated to be much simpler. The only remaining road is Route 95 or a fictional road.
