"The man who designed this wonderful work of art, Hans Wagner, he named it der Götterdämmerung for the final chapter in his namesake Richard Wagner's epic opera, Der Ring des Nibelungen."
Hans Wagner was a world-famous safe builder who designed, among his other work, the Götterdämmerung. Ludwig Dieter, who developed a passion for locking mechanisms at a young age, eventually became obsessed with Wagner's work. Wager was portrayed by Christian Steyer in Army of Thieves and was mentioned before that in Army of the Dead.
Biography[]
Wagner was a renowned safe designer who established the company Hans Wagner Tresore AG at the edge of Munich, Germany. He was a hardworking pillar of the community until he lost his wife and son. Late in his life, he built four masterpieces, the cracking of which would eventually become Ludwig Dieter's life goal. He believed himself to be the bastard son of German composer Richard Wagner, and so the four safes were designed based on, and named after Richard's Der Ring des Nibelungen operas:
After completing his Ring Cycle safes, he crafted one final safe; one designed to seal away his misery. He stepped inside and locked himself in, never to be seen again. His factory workers attempted to free him, but Wagner's work was too pure. His final safe, his body still inside, was dropped into the ocean.[1]

Trivia[]
- Christian Steyer, who portrays Wagner, also portrayed Heinrich Gustav Tannhaus in the Netflix series, Dark. H.G. Tannhaus is a similar inventor to Hans Wagner, especially concerning details of his inventions and how they relate to semi-confirmed time-related fan theories about the Armyverse. Tannhaus, similarly to Wagner, lost his family and buried himself in his work. Tannhous invented a time machine to attempt to save his family, while Wagner built a chamber to lock himself away from the world.
