The Las Vegas zombie outbreak was the event that infected the people of Las Vegas with a mysterious virus that would cause them to become zombies. The event was depicted in the opening credits of Army of the Dead and will show up again in Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas in a more central role.
History[]

After an experiment in Area 51 went wrong, a zombified soldier broke free and began to infect the residents of Las Vegas. People he bit became alphas, and people they bit became shamblers, and soon zombies had taken over large parts of the city.[1]

Aftermath[]
As a result of the outbreak a good part if not that the majority of the population of Las Vegas was contaminated and converted into zombies. The military was brought in, and the struggle over the control of the city for the next few years would come to be known as the zombie wars.[1]
