"That's American goddamn dollars. We're getting it."

Money was a physical construct representing the value of goods and services, and as such could be used to purchase goods and services. It was a large driving force for many actions taken by many people in the Armyverse, good and bad, as it was fundamental to living in a society.

History[]

Rheingold heist[]

"This is about becoming legends. . . Focus on the 500s, though."

Rheingold cash

The cash stored in the Rheingold

Money was a major driving force behind a series of heists committed by Gwendoline's heist crew, starting with that of the Rheingold. Gwendoline Starr and Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert were notably more interested in the quest of cracking the Hans Wagner safes, but money remained the primary objective for other members of the heist crew, Brad Cage and Rolph. The safe was estimated to hold $10 million (in American dollars), but the amount stolen remains unknown. The remaining money was presumably later stored in another manner, as the Rheingold was scheduled to be decommissioned in Geneva shortly after the heist.[1]

Valkyrie heist[]

The second of the Wagner heists was that of the Valkyrie. More complicated than the first, it required weeks of reconning and Korina Dominguez's hacking expertise to break through NPIB Prague's security. The safe contained $40 million at the time of the heist, with Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert and Gwendoline Starr successfully taking an unknown amount. Like the Siegfried, the safe was scheduled to be decommissioned, the money stored within likely moved elsewhere.[1]

Siegfried heist[]

Following the Valkyrie heist, the heist crew split up, with Gwendoline Starr, Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert, and Korina Dominguez continuing to the third. Brad Cage and Rolph attempted to cut them off, but were too late. Sebastian managed to open the Siegfried, he and Gwen stealing an unknown amount of cash from the estimated $100 million contents.[1]

Meanwhile, with Las Vegas overrun with zombies, the remains of the city were left unclaimed, resulting in many people risking their lives to crack slot machines and acquire the money stored within. Lilly helped lead some of these expeditions, and Geeta and Daisy were members of her final party.[2]

Götterdämmerung heist[]

"Tanaka doesn't give a shit about the money. What's in this bag is worth ten times what's in that vault."

Gotterdammerung cash

The cash stored in the Götterdämmerung

The primary point of interest behind the journey into zombie-run Las Vegas was money. $200 million was stored in the Götterdämmerung, with thousands more in the chamber outside the safe. In exchange for retreiving the $200 million for Bly Tanaka, the team to bring it out of the city would be granted $50 million to divy up between themselves. While most of the heist crew were interested in the money, several of its members' attention was elsewhere. Maria Cruz was there for Scott Ward, Vanderohe was there for catharsis, Kate Ward was there for Geeta, Ludwig Dieter was there for accomplishment, Lilly was there for atonement, and Chambers was there for Mikey Guzman. Scott, Marianne Peters, Guzman, Burt Cummings, and Martin were all there primarily for the money, though in Martin's case it was for the monetary value of Athena's head, rather than the money of the safe itself.[2]

Objects of monetary value[]

The following objects are worth large amounts of money. Included are only objects that have an established value.

  • Athena's head was stated to be ten times the value of the contents of the Götterdämmerung, which was equivalent to $2 billion.
  • The Götterdämmerung contents were estimated to be worth $200 million.
  • The Siegfried contents were estimated to be worth $100 million.
  • The Valkyrie contents were estimated to be worth $40 million.
  • The Rheingold contents were estimated to be worth $10 million.
