An underground safecracking tournament took place in Berlin. After receiving a mysterious invite to the location, Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert found the event and took his place as one of the competitors. It turned out the competition was being used to evaluate whether Sebastion was worthy of joining Gwendoline's heist crew. This event was the inciting incident for Army of Thieves.

History[]

After receiving a mysterious comment on one of his YouTube videos, Sebastian followed its instructions to a house at the end of Leipziger Str., where he found himself thrown into the midst of a secret safecracking tournament. Sebastian anxiously questioned his role before joining in and narrowly securing his position in the semifinals. The second round began, and this time he jumped right in. He managed to be the second to open his safe, putting him in the finals against Neo, the reigning champion.

Round 3 begins

Two safe doors were wheeled out for them, and three minutes were set on the clock. Sebastian watched Neo get started with his door and realized that his own victory was assured. He cautiously taunted his opponent, waiting until a mere thirty seconds remained before starting his door. He breezed through the dials and opened his door. The crowd cheered, and among them, Sebastian caught his first glimpse of Gwendoline Starr, who he would later learn was the one who left the comment on his video. The emcee for the event dubbed him "Mr. Nervous Guy", and some members of the small crowd called out to him in support. He was given a trophy and went home to return to his boring life after a night of wonder.[1]

Aftermath[]

Impressed with Sebastian's skills, Gwendoline Starr later met with him to recruit him into her heist team.[1]
