Zombie outbreak
September 13, 2019[9]
Las Vegas outbreak: Tasked with carrying Zeus out of Area 51, the Four Horsemen ended up being killed and/or converted into zombies when their cargo escaped. Attracted by the bright lights of Las Vegas, the small zombie group headed down into the city, where their rampage would eventually lead to a catastrophic takeover of the entire city.[10]

2025[]

Nuclear blast
June 29, 2025[14]
The United States Congress ratified the POTUS' proposition to deploy a low-yield tactical nuke on the city of Las Vegas, which would take place on the evening of the Fourth of July holiday.[10]
June 30, 2025
Bly Tanaka approached Scott Ward at the Lucky Boy in an attempt to hire him to head into Las Vegas before it was scheduled to be nuked on the 4th. During this meeting a protest against the impending nuclear strike on Vegas was occurring in Washington, D.C.[10]
July 1, 2025
Scott Ward accepted Tanaka's mission and began gathering his crew. Maria Cruz, Vanderohe, Marianne Peters, and Mikey Guzman joined the team.
July 2, 2025
Scott and Maria recruited safecracker Ludwig Dieter to join the rest of the crew.
At 4:00 P.M. Las Vengeance met with Bly Tanaka at a Victor Valley warehouse and prepared for their mission into Las Vegas. Chambers and Martin were added to the group.
That evening Scott Ward met with his daughter, Kate Ward, at the Las Vegas Quarantine Center where she worked in order to get her to help them into the quarantine zone. Geeta and Daisy later sneaked into Vegas with the intention of cracking a slot machine with the help of Lilly, but were left behind and captured by the Las Vegas horde.[10]
July 3, 2025
Götterdämmerung heist: Las Vengeance enlisted Lilly's help to enter the city, where they made their way to Bly's Casino. Kate Ward joined the group when she found out her friend, Geeta, was lost somewhere inside, and she later broke away from the group to find Geeta. Burt Cummings was also added to the group last minute, and Lilly later used him as a sacrifice to the Las Vegas horde. Martin split off from the group to acquire Athena's head, which he did successfully. Ludwig Dieter managed to break into the safe while Marianne Peters managed to fix up the escape helicopter. Zeus led the horde after the Las Vengeance crew when he realized they'd taken his lover's head, and as a result most of the crew were killed by alphas. Scott Ward and Marianne Peters flew from Bly's Casino to The Olympus, where Kate had gone to find Geeta. The nuclear bomb scheduled for the following day was moved up. The four did escape the city before the nuclear blast, however Zeus managed to board the helicopter, infecting Scott and causing the vehicle to crash.[10]
Nuclear strike on Las Vegas: A low-yield tactical nuke was launched on Las Vegas, destroying the city and the zombie kingdom. The zombies were presumably wiped out entirely, along with any remaining humans in the city other than Vanderohe, who was inside the safe. The blast caused Peters' helicopter to crash, killing Peters and Geeta. Kate Ward was then forced to kill her father, who had become a zombie.
July 4, 2025
Vanderohe arose from the rubble of the nuclear blast carrying as much money as he could. He rented a private jet to Mexico City, but realized he had been bitten by a zombie. That evening was when the bombing of Las Vegas was originally scheduled, but it had since been moved up a day.[10]

Media chronology[]

Trivia[]

  • In Army of the Dead: A Film by Zack Snyder: The Making of the Film (p.184), Julie Berghoff states that the zombie outbreak was six years before the events of Army of the Dead, while Zack Snyder remarked offhand that it's a two year difference. This timeline will attempt to reflect what's depicted within canon as accurately as possible.
  • There have been minor timeline contradictions presented in the Armyverse.
    • The Maria Cruz issue of Vegas Success is dated 2021, despite all signs that the city (and by extension the publication) must have fallen by then.
    • The fake passports for the members of Gwendoline's heist crew have issue dates in 2020 and 2021, despite all other signs being that the events of the film take place in 2019.
    • In Army of Thieves, Sebastian uses a phone to play music while cracking the Valkyrie. This phone shows a date of Wednesday, November 11. This would suggest the film takes place in 2020, due to November 11 landing on a Wednesday in this year, though this contradicts the phases of the moon seen later in the movie, a date seen earlier in the film, and the phases of the moon seen in Army of the Dead. This is also Sebastian's second mobile phone, which is seemingly kept solely for the purpose of playing music, so its date may be less accurate.
    • When Vincent Delacroix finds Sebastian's YouTube videos, Gwen's comment is stated to have been posted "two weeks ago" via YouTube's dating system, though, the events occur very rapidly with a tight schedule after this point without room for two weeks to have passed.
  • The Criminal Support Group page contains a summary of the cross-media timeline between the crossover franchises.

References[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 This is a real world event referenced within Armyverse canon, and so the real world date is used.
  2. The Siegfried has a completion date sculpted into its surface. Korina's files depict it clearly.
  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 In Vincent Delacroix's presentation shown in Army of Thieves, one of Gwendoline's bullet points states that she was issued her Red Notice in 2007. Sebastian states that she's had a Red Notice since she was 17, putting her birth in 1989 or 1990. Sebastian also states that she met Brad Cage at the age of 19, putting this meeting at about 2009.
  4. In Army of Thieves, Gwendoline states that Korina pirated an early copy of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 when she was only ten years old. The movie came out in mid-2006, putting Korina's birth in the range of late 1995 to early 1996.
  5. In Army of the Dead: A Film by Zack Snyder: The Making of the Film (p.63), Ella Purnell states that her character, Kate, watched her mother die when she was 16 or 17. Laura Ward died early in the Vegas outbreak, which occurred in 2019, giving Kate a birth date in the range of 2002-2003.
  6. Marianne Peters' phone shows a news story that confirms a zombie outbreak occurred in Milwaukee in 2004 the first time she's seen in Army of the Dead.
  7. 7.0 7.1 These dates are in Vincent Delacroix's presentation in Army of Thieves.
  8. In Army of Thieves, Dieter watches a news report that covers the Las Vegas outbreak. At the bottom of the screen, a report of German astronaut, Alexander Gerst, coming back from ISS is displayed. This is a real world event that occurred on December 20, 2018.
  9. In Army of Thieves, the first news of the zombie outbreak is shown on September 14, 2019. This news is treated as very recent by multiple characters throughout the film (Gwendoline and Sebastian mention it as a recent event, Bly Tanaka supposedly reacts to the news by decommissioning his safes, and Beatrix wants to help with the outbreak), and was also listed as "breaking news" on the 14th, indicating not much time has passed between the events of the film and the outbreak. The night of the outbreak is shown to be a full moon in Army of the Dead, and the night of September 13, 2019 had a full moon in Las Vegas. The previous full moon was a month prior, which would make the "breaking news" note incorrect.

  11. 11.0 11.1 11.2 11.3 11.4 11.5 Just before receiving his comment from xxxLOCKSMITHxxx on YouTube, Sebastian looks at his watch, which has a date of Sunday 9-15, 2000 displayed. September 15 in 2019 was a Sunday, lining up with other dates in the franchise, while September 15 in 2000 was a Friday. It's not uncommon for years to be ignored when setting up watch displays, and since the year is the only thing that doesn't fit other dates, it's assumed that the year was never set correctly. Other events in the film can be dated with this information.
  12. Shay Hatten (writer) & Matthias Schweighöfer (director) (October 29, 2021). Army of Thieves.
  13. Zack Snyder (writer) & Karla Braun (director) (May 15, 2021). The Reckoning.
  14. Army of Thieves was confirmed to take place six years before the main plot of Army of the Dead in Army of the Dead: A Film by Zack Snyder: The Making of the Film (p.184), while a news report in Army of Thieves confirms the outbreak occurred in 2019. In Army of the Dead, Geeta states that she needs to get her children out of the camp by Friday. The nuclear strike on Las Vegas was scheduled for the 4th of July at the time. July 4, 2025, is a Friday, matching Geeta's desire to leave "by Friday." Knowing the planned date of the nuclear strike must have been July 4, 2025, many events in Army of the Dead can be dated. The day Bly Tanaka meets with Scott Ward, he mentions the nuclear strike is scheduled for four days from then. Four days before July 4 is June 30. That same day, before Bly walked in, a news report confirmed that the nuclear strike had been ratified the day before, which would be June 29. Scott is shown calling Bly the morning after their meeting, then building his team that day (July 1). Bly tells him to meet at a warehouse the next day at 4 P.M., making the day of the warehouse meeting July 2. The Vegas heist was planned for July 3, which was one day before the planned nuclear strike, and the same day as the actual strike after it was moved up 24 hours. Vanderohe then walks out some time later while the fires are still smoldering, indicating it's been hours rather than days, setting his journey to Utah on July 4.
